How Do I Log In After Buying a Telegram Account? A Clear Explanation of the Common Delivery Methods

People buying a Telegram account for the first time often encounter a question that looks simple but is actually easy to confuse:

I bought the account, so how exactly do I log in next?

The reason is that Telegram accounts are not like ordinary website accounts that are always \"username + password.\" Different sellers' products may have completely different delivery formats.

The fairly common ones now include:

Phone number + verification code
API online code retrieval
TData
Session
Client data that is already logged in

So before buying, it is best to first figure out which type you are buying, and especially look at the \"delivery method\" and \"login method\" on the product page.

The most common is phone number plus verification code

This is the easiest method for ordinary users to understand.

A Telegram account is itself associated with a phone number. Normally, after entering the phone number in a new Telegram client, you need to complete the login verification required by Telegram.

Sometimes the verification code is not sent directly by SMS, but is first sent to the Telegram devices already logged into the account.

So seeing \"no SMS received\" does not necessarily mean the account has a problem.

If the seller provides a traditional phone number account, it is usually necessary to confirm in advance:

What the phone number is
How to get the first verification code
Whether the verification code can be obtained repeatedly
How long the number can be used
Whether after-sales support is provided when login problems occur

For an account you plan to use long term, you should also consider whether you can continue to control this number in the future.

What is API code retrieval? How do I log in?

There is now another fairly common delivery method, which many account platforms call:

API code retrieval, API code fetching, online code retrieval, verification code lookup link.

This method is actually not complicated for ordinary users.

Besides providing the Telegram phone number, the seller also provides a web link or API address for looking up the verification code.

When actually logging in, you still use the official Telegram client normally.

The general process is:

Open Telegram.
Enter the phone number provided by the seller.
Normally enter the \"enter verification code\" page.
Open the verification code lookup link provided by the seller.
Wait for the Telegram verification code to appear.
Enter the verification code you see into Telegram.
Complete the login.

In other words, API code retrieval is not another kind of Telegram client.

It simply changes the \"where the verification code is obtained\" step into an online lookup.

For example, an ordinary phone number may require checking an SMS, while an API code retrieval account checks the verification code on the lookup page provided by the seller.

Why do some platforms use API code retrieval?

Mainly for the convenience of delivery.

If a seller has a large number of numbers from different countries and regions, sending verification codes manually one by one is inconvenient.

Through online code retrieval, buyers can check the verification code for the corresponding account themselves after ordering, without having to contact customer service each time.

This method is especially common on platforms with automatic delivery.

The whole process is basically:

Buy account → get phone number and code lookup link → enter phone number in Telegram → look up verification code → complete login.

For ordinary buyers, there is no need to understand programming or know how the API is implemented.

Just follow the login instructions provided by the platform.

What should I pay attention to with API code retrieval?

The most important thing is to keep your verification code lookup link safe.

Some platforms provide an order-specific link, and anyone who gets this link may be able to see the verification code corresponding to that order.

So do not:

Publicly send the code lookup link to a group
Include the full link when taking screenshots
Provide the verification code to strangers
Use third-party code retrieval websites of unknown origin

You should only complete the login through the number and verification code lookup channels that the seller explicitly provides and that you have the right to use.

There is also another issue to note:

Being able to get the first verification code does not mean you can always retrieve codes forever.

Some platforms' code retrieval services are only valid within the after-sales period, and some numbers can only be used short term.

So if the account is for long-term use, it is best to ask clearly before buying:

\"How long can this API code retrieval link be used?\"

This is often more important than \"whether I can log in the first time.\"

What is TData?

TData generally refers to the local data used by Telegram Desktop.

Simply put, it means that a certain Telegram Desktop has already logged into the account, and the related login data is saved in a local directory.

This kind of product is fairly common in Telegram account trading, because after getting the corresponding data, in some cases there is no need to complete the first SMS verification again like an ordinary new device.

However, TData is inherently rather sensitive login data.

Do not casually send your own TData to others, and do not run software of completely unknown origin to process TData.

After getting this kind of account, you should first confirm whether the account can be used normally, and then check which devices are currently logged in.

What is Session?

Session is fairly common in Telegram API clients such as Telethon, Pyrogram, and GramJS.

Ordinary Telegram users may never come into contact with it at all.

Simply put, a Session is a type of session data saved by a program to remember the Telegram login state.

So this kind of account is usually more oriented toward:

Telegram API development
Program testing
Your own account management tools

It is not a kind of \"account password\" that can be directly imported and used by an ordinary mobile Telegram client.

If you just want to use Telegram normally on your phone or Telegram Desktop, there is actually no need to specifically buy the Session type.

What is the difference between API code retrieval, TData, and Session?

Many beginners most easily mix these three together.

In fact, it can be simply understood as:

API code retrieval

You still enter the phone number to log in normally; the verification code is simply obtained through the online page provided by the seller.

TData

Mainly related to existing login data of Telegram Desktop.

Session

Mainly used by programs or development tools such as Telethon, Pyrogram, and GramJS.

So if you are an ordinary Telegram user, the ones that are usually easiest to understand and operate are:

Phone number + verification code

or:

Phone number + API online code retrieval

These two methods are closest to ordinary Telegram login.

There is also Passkey now

Telegram now also supports Passkey login.

After users set it up on their own devices, they can verify via the device PIN, Face ID, fingerprint, and so on, reducing reliance on traditional verification codes in some scenarios.

But Passkey does not mean the phone number is completely useless.

For important accounts you plan to use long term, you should still pay attention to phone number control, two-step verification, and account recovery methods.

What should I do first after logging in?

After the account logs in successfully, do not just focus on changing the profile picture and nickname right away.

It is recommended to first go to:

Settings → Devices

to view which devices are currently online.

If the account is for long-term use, focus on checking:

Whether there are unfamiliar old devices
Whether other clients are currently online
Whether two-step verification is set up
What the recovery email is
Whether there is a Passkey you are unaware of

Clarify the account's current status first, then consider changing the information later.

There is also no need, one minute after logging in, to log in on five or six devices at the same time or change all the information at once.

Be sure to check the delivery type before buying

Many Telegram account purchase disputes are actually not because the account itself is unusable, but because the buyer did not read the product description carefully.

For example, the buyer thought they were purchasing:

A phone number + online code retrieval account

but what they received was a Session.

Or they thought that after getting TData they could directly import it into mobile Telegram, only to find that this is not the case at all.

So when buying a Telegram account, the \"delivery method\" is actually as important as the country, registration time, and price.

Before buying, ordinary users should at least see clearly which type the product belongs to:

Phone number verification code account

Suitable for logging in with an ordinary Telegram client.

API code retrieval account

After entering the phone number, look up the verification code through the page provided by the platform; the operation is relatively simple.

TData account

Mainly for Telegram Desktop.

Session account

More oriented toward Telegram API, programs, and development tools.

If you do not understand at all what Session and TData are, there is no need to choose these products just because they are cheaper.

For ordinary users, choosing an account with a clear description, a simple login method, and an explicit verification code retrieval method will usually save a lot of trouble.
