Telegram Asks to Bind an Email at Login: What to Do

When logging into a Telegram account, some accounts may prompt you to "bind an email" or "set up your email" after entering the verification code. This is a Telegram account security mechanism, usually triggered when the account is under risk control, logging in from a new device, or has been inactive for a long time.

Why does Telegram ask me to bind an email?

To verify account ownership, Telegram asks you to provide a working email address. Once bound, Telegram sends a verification email that can later be used to recover the password, reset two-step verification, or appeal for the account.

What should I do?

  • Enter a long-term email: use a stable international email such as Gmail or Outlook, and avoid temporary email addresses.
  • Complete email verification: Telegram sends a code or link to that email. Check your inbox (including spam) and finish verification.
  • Do not skip: if the client offers "set later", we still recommend binding as soon as possible to avoid repeated prompts.

What to keep in mind after binding

Keep access to that email safe. The email acts as a second key to the account; if you lose it, recovering the Telegram account later becomes very difficult.

Summary

Being asked to bind an email during login is a normal account protection step. Just enter and verify a working email to continue. We also recommend enabling two-step verification afterwards.
